medical stuff

Mr Jonah is an extremely odd child when it comes to his health, but has become wonderfully delightful when it comes to his personality and his looks...well,  he is a small bundle of cuteness overload!!

Jonahs blood work (labs) came back 2 weeks ago.  They showed that Jonah does NOT have a t-cell deficitantsy (yay!).  But that indeed there is great concern about the "memory" of his cells. I don't want to get that much into the findings, (due to a former post that I learned a hefty lesson about) but Jonah's body is responding to each illness he catches as though it was the first time he was ever exposed to it. This is perhaps why a cold that would make you or I feel just a little congested, wipes Jonah out and sometimes lands him in the hospital. His immune system is not "remembering"...but indeed he does have one!

We will be doing more tests and more blood work over the next two months.  If the doctors do not see a difference within some of the tests, then Jonah will start  a process called IVIG. (click to read more on IVIG)

  1. hey jessica -- this reminds me of some of the immunological workup they did on Isaac when he was an infant. we did something called the phage test to see if his immune system worked properly... injected him with a harmless virus to see if his immune system generated a response, and then re-exposed him sometime later to see if he'd generate a proper response.

if you do go the IVIG route, it's not bad. the worst was getting the IV. maybe you'd go for a port. my son did it all last year as a way to keep up his health. he ended up looking forward to the day because it meant video games all day. we're not going to be doing it this year so i'm really hoping isaac's immunity maintains! we may have to resume if he gets sick alot.

i sure hope you are getting some good answers. hugs!
